In Minors baseball, players pitch from a 46’ pitching mound and play regulation baseball games of 6 innings with an umpire. Base stealing (without leadoffs) is allowed. Emphasis is on skill development and good sportsmanship. All genders are welcome.
At the conclusion of the regular season in mid June, there are tryouts for a tournament team which plays in the District 7 (city-wide) Championships during the first week of July. The winner moves on to Provincials!
Your child can play Minors or Majors for Beacon Hill Little League if they reside or go to school in our catchment area (see map). The regular season runs from early April to mid June. Players should expect to have 2-3 practices and 1-3 games each week.
Home games are played at Hollywood Park on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Interlock away games may take place mid-week.
$200 Early Bird (before January 31)
$225 after January 31.
Players need to purchase and wear their own plain grey baseball pants (no stripes or ribbing, please).
Each player will receive a hat, long-sleeved practice shirt, and socks — theirs to keep.
Team jerseys will be distributed and must be returned at the end of the season. Please bring a $50 deposit cheque to your team coach made out to ‘Beacon Hill Baseball & Softball Association’. The cheque will be destroyed when you return the jersey at the end of the season.
Players need their own glove, batting helmet, and rubber cleats.
They must also wear pelvic protection (a “jock” or “jill”) to every practice and game.
Team bats are supplied. Players may purchase and use their own bat as long as it has the USA Baseball logo indicating it’s approved Little League. Bats without this logo will not be permitted!
How are teams selected?
Players league age 9 – 12 are assessed by coaches at the Oak Bay Rec centre just prior to the end of March in an effort to balance ability across teams and ensure player safety.
“Playing up” to Majors
Players are registered according to their league age. Requests to play up will be considered in an effort to balance teams and ensure player safety.
