Mini Minors

Mini Minors is for children who are league age 7 and 8.

In Mini Minors, children receive additional instruction on the fundamentals of baseball – hitting, throwing, catching, running and fielding – with emphasis on playing positions in the field and good sportsmanship during game play.  Players start the season by hitting from coach pitch, but after the May long weekend they will have the opportunity to practice hitting from player/coach pitch in addition to practicing pitching themselves if desired. Mini Minor games consist of 4 innings (maximum 2 hours long) with each player getting a turn at bat and all players playing the field in every inning.

During a game, each team will have 3 outs or a maximum of 3 runs per at bat per inning. Mini Minors is suitable for both aspiring baseball and softball players. If appropriate, 8-year-old players who demonstrate the required level of skill and maturity may be assessed for Minors baseball or U9C softball.

To play with Beacon Hill Little League, your child must reside or go to school in our catchment area.

The regular season runs from early April to mid June.

Clothing & equipment

All players need to have their own glove and batting helmet. *parents are strongly encouraged to have their own batting helmet. Please make sure that your player’s name is clearly marked on all items. Each player will receive a team t-shirt and hat at the start of the season—theirs to keep.

Parent involvement

Please plan to help out with your child’s team as a coach or volunteer. A clinic for coaches will be offered prior to the beginning of the season. Don’t be intimidated, you can do it!

Friend requests

We are pleased to consider friend requests on teams; however, this is limited to one friend request per player – and both registrants must input the same request (each other) and at the same level of programming. Priority is given to balancing our teams.

Our registration form provides a field for you to make your request.

All play happens within Beacon Hill, so rest assured that friends will have the opportunity to play and see each other with regularity!

“Playing up” to Minors

All players must register according to their birthday. If you feel your player would be better suited playing in a higher level, please send me an email to registrar@beaconhillball.com including your player’s name, age, and your request. Decisions around playing up are multifactorial, including skill, safety, emotional maturity, roster space, etc. The decisions will be made by our coaches.
