Majors Baseball

Majors baseball is for players who are league age 11 and 12.

Majors play with the same 46’ pitching mound and 60’ base path as Minors, but the strength of hitting, speed of pitching, and level of play is noticeably higher. All genders are welcome.

The Majors Division also forms a tournament team (by tryout) which plays in the District 7 (city-wide) Championships during the second week of July. The winner of District 7 moves on to Provincials, the winner of Provincials to Canadians, and the winner of Canadians to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania!

To play with Beacon Hill Little League, your child must reside or go to school in our catchment area.

Schedule

The regular season runs from early April to mid June.

Players should expect to have 2-3 practices and 1-3 games each week.

Majors home games are played at Hollywood Park on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday afternoons. Interlock away games may take place mid-week.

Location

Practices are held at Brooke Street Park and Hollywood Park.

Home games are played at Hollywood Park.

A handful of interlock games during the season may require travel to other parks within Victoria (Ambassador Park, Hampton Park, Centennial Park, Layritz Park, Jerry Hale Field).

Cost

Regular Season – $290

Clothing

Players need to purchase and wear their own plain grey baseball pants (no stripes or ribbing, please).

Each player will receive a hat, long-sleeved practice shirt, and socks — theirs to keep.

Team jerseys will be distributed and must be returned at the end of the season. If you do not return your jersey at the end of season, you will be responsible for a $50 payment.

Equipment

Players need their own glove, batting helmet, and rubber cleats. *parents are strongly encouraged to have their own helmet.

They must also wear pelvic protection (a “jock” or “jill”) to every practice and game.

Team bats are supplied. Players may purchase and use their own bat as long as it has the USA Baseball logo indicating it’s approved Little League. Bats without this logo will not be permitted!

How are teams selected?

Players league age 9 – 12 are assessed by coaches at the Oak Bay Rec centre just prior to the end of March in an effort to balance ability across teams and ensure player safety.
