Victoria Breakers – Offseason Training for 13-17 year olds

This post has been updated on Sep 26, 2021
The Victoria Breakers Youth Baseball Club is an independent, not-for-profit society that has just been formed for players aged 13-17.
Its purpose is to enable players to work on their skills in the off-season while considering where to play in the Spring — whether that be with a Little League program or a B.C. Ball program. Where players go isn’t important, what is important is that they continue to play! The Breakers provides a low pressure way to practice and have some fun during the off season before you commit.
Club practices will be twice a week* from September 17 – March 27:
- Fridays at George Jay Elementary School Gym 6:00-8:30pm
- Sundays at Vic West field 2:00-4:00pm
*A third day will be added if there is increased demand following Fall Ball.
Indoor practices will focus on skill development for throwing and fielding. Outdoor practices will focus on hitting and base running but the throwing and fielding we work on indoors will be practiced as well. There will also be options for pitchers to practice with Coach Don Moore. Catcher training will be available, but players need to bring their own gear due to COVID restrictions.
Registration is $200.00 for just over six months of indoor and outdoor training twice a week and includes a hat and dri-fit.

Big things for softball: upgrade to Pemberton and a partnership with Victoria Glory Softball!
Posted on August 21, 2021 Leave a Comment

Big things are happening for Beacon Hill softball!
In late July, the City of Victoria broke ground at Pemberton Park and has started the process of installing a regulation skinned infield which will be ready for the 2022 season!
And …. we are delighted to announce that we will be partnering with the newly established Victoria Glory Softball program, led by Emma Entzminger, Tokyo 2020 Olympic Bronze Medalist and current member of the Canadian National Softball Team!
Emma has been appointed Director of Player Development for Victoria Glory as well as for the Lambrick Park Softball Academy in partnership with Rocky Vitale. In addition to establishing new high-level teams in the City, the Glory will offer Next Level – an off-season skills development program.
The Glory’s mission is to raise the level of training and development for softball in our city with an emphasis on nurturing female leadership and female-to-female mentorship.
What this partnership will mean for Beacon Hill is that, starting in 2022, we’ll be able to offer softball at all levels—A, B and C—all playing out of Pemberton Park. All of our players will have more opportunities to receive quality instruction, learn from older, experienced players, and be inspired to continue playing softball as they get older by seeing high-level play at our home park!
We are very appreciative to the City of Victoria for taking steps to provide a quality field for softball at Pemberton Park so that higher levels of softball can take place, and we feel very fortunate and are grateful to Emma and Rocky for choosing us!
More information to follow in the coming weeks and months! In the meantime, check out the Victoria Glory’s site to learn more about the Next Level program and upcoming September tryouts for U19, U17, U15, and U13!

2021 Baseball All-Star Tryouts
Posted on June 12, 2021 Leave a Comment
Dear Parents & Players,
Today we received confirmation that Little League District and Provincial tournaments will be proceeding this summer. We are therefore announcing tryouts for our Minors and Majors baseball tournament (“All-Star”) teams.
Who Can Try Out?
To be eligible for the tournament team, your player must:
- Have been registered in our Spring 2021 regular season
- Reside or attend school within our catchment (proof will be required)
- Be eligible league age: for the 11/12 team, league age 11 or 12; for the 9/10 team, league age 9 or 10, or 8 years old having played in our Minors division during the regular season. League age determines which team your player is eligible to try out for, not the level they played during the regular season (proof will be required)
All players trying out for All-Stars must be fully committed to a rigorous practice schedule leading up to the District tournament, and the potential of the same requirements in preparation for the Provincial tournament. This will include two weeks of daily practices with possible exhibition games leading up to the dates below. Players trying out must also be committed to all of the following dates and travel requirements:
09/10 (“Minors”) Division
District Tournament | July 5 – 11 at Central Saanich Little League |
Provincial Tournament | July 17 – 25 at Dunbar Little League (West Vancouver) |
11/12 (“Majors”) Division
District Tournament | July 12 – 18 at Layritz LIttle League |
Provincial Tournament | July 24 – Aug 1 at Whalley Little League (Surrey) |
You must also be committed to the cost of travel and uniform requirements for the All-Star team, which will be outlined in detail and with consultation once the teams are selected. *No Player will be excluded due to financial need. Please connect with Mark Wilson (president@beaconhillball.com), Brad Muir (vpbaseball@beaconhillball.com), or Nancy Dragicevich (treasurer@beaconhillball.com) if your player requires financial support to participate in All-Stars.
We also want you to understand that All-Stars do not follow the fair play/continuous batter rules of house baseball. In many circumstances, your player may only get a single at bat with no defensive playing time in games. The development, knowledge, and experience at this level of play is essential as players move forward in baseball and in life, but we want you to be aware of the difference of playing at this level to avoid disappointment due to misinformed expectations.
If you agree to and meet the above requirements and expectations, and your player wishes to try out, tryouts will take place:
(8) 9/10 Division (“Minors”) Wednesday, June 16 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Hollywood Park | 11/12 Division (“Majors”) Sunday, June 20 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Hollywood Park |
Players must:
- Wear their team game jersey with player number
- Arrive 20 minutes early with all required equipment (i.e. jock/jill, helmet)
- Be on the field warmed up and ready for assessments for their scheduled start time. Late arrivals will affect assessments!
Thank you for your interest,
1-2-3, Beacon Hill!
Mark Wilson, President
